This is a couple’s dance done in the cape position.
Men on the left draping their right arm over lady’s right shoulder and left hands clasped in front.
Traveling Cha-Cha is divided into 5 parts.

Part 1
LEFT ROCK, RECOVER R, LEFT SHUFFLE FWD, RIGHT ROCK BACK, RECOVER,
RIGHT SHUFFL FWD
1-2 Rock L fwd, R recover
3&4 Left shuffle back
5-6 Right Rock back, L recover
7&8 Right shuffle fwd
REPEAT PART 1 STEPS 1 to 8
As you do this final right-left-right, turn the lady 1/2 turn to left so she is facing you.
Your right arm has to go over her head and your hands will be crossed in front.
Part 2
This part is the men’s, the lady’s parts differ
LEFT ROCK, RECOVER R,LEFT SHUFFLE IN PLACE,
1-2 MEN: Rock L fwd, R recover
LADY’S: Rock back on left foot, rock fwd on right
3&4 MEN: Shuffle LRL in place
LADY’S: Are turned 1/2 turn to right back into cape position
5-6 MEN: Rock back on right, rock fwd on left
LADY’S: Turn 1/2 turn to left so you are again facing partner with hands crossed in front
7&8 MEN: Shuffle fwd RLR in place
LADY’S: Are turned 1/2 turn to right back into cape position

Part 3 (PARTNERS IN CAPE POSITION)
STEP L FWD, 1/2 TURN PIVOT R, SHUFFLE LRL, STEP R FWD,
1/2 TURN PIVOT L, SHUFFLE RLR
1-2 Step fwd L, 1/2 turn pivot R
3&4 Shuffle fwd LRL
5-6 Step fwd R, 1/2 turn pivot L

Part 4
This is where the dance gets its name “Traveling”
Drop left arms and have right arms slightly raised to go over ladies’ head if you wish to do the turns.
STEP FWD L, STEP FWD R, SHUFFLE FWD LRL, STEP FWD R, STEP FWD L, SHUFFLE RLR
1-2 Step fwd L, step fwd R
3&4 MAN: shuffle fwd LRL
LADY’S: R turning shuffle to face LOD
If the LADY is turning she must do a complete turn to the right using the two steps as a pivot
while still moving forward shuffling LRL
5-6 Step fwd R, step fwd L
7&8 MAN: shuffle RLR
LADY’S: L turning shuffle to face LOD
If the LADY is turning she must do a complete turn to the left using the two steps as a pivot
while still moving forward RLR

4 SETS OF COUNTERCLOCKWISE TURNING SHUFFLE STEPS
1-2 MAN: step left foot behind R, step R to side
LADY’S: Step L in front of the man, step R next to L
LADY’S: You will be coming across to L side. Drop right hands.
Both step on right, men moving toward right to accommodate lady who is
now on your left side. Grasp right hands behind the man’s back.
3&4 MAN: Shuffle fwd LRL
LADY’S: Shuffle back LRL
5-6 MAN: Step right foot crossing L over left, step left to side
LADY’S: Step right to R, step L next to right behind man
Lady’s you will be coming across back to original R side. Drop left hands.
Both step on left foot, men moving toward left to accommodate lady who is
now back on your right side. Make sure you lifted your right arm up for
her to come through. Grasp left hands back in front in original cape.
7&8 MAN: Shuffle back RLR
LADY’S: Shuffle fwd RLR
